Rangers vs Feyenoord: Europa League preview

Rangers vs Feyenoord
Europa League Group G
8:00pm Thursday September

Ibrox Stadium

Steven Gerrard has predicted to produce a Europa League victory against Feyenoord as a tribute to mild defender Fernando Ricksen following his death at the age of 43.
The ex-Netherlands global, who produced over 250 appearances for the Ibrox team between 2000 and 2006, were combating engine neurone disease for six decades and expired on Wednesday morning.
Gerrard is currently preparing his new players to confront the Eredivisie side and needs them to triumph for Ricksen.
He said:»It’s extremely sad news for everybody connected to the club and, even more importantly, his family. On behalf of the club I would love to pay tribute. He was a fantastic player who had a career.
«I’m convinced there will be a great deal of feelings at the stadium and I believe Fernando deserves that. I am sure both sets of fans will pay their respects.
«We ask the fans to get right behind the group since I believe it will be a nice tribute to him when we can put in a fantastic performance and attempt to get max points.
«I think everyone understands before a ball is kicked, in case this was the case, we would surely dedicate it to him along with his loved ones.
«It is quite sad. I am sure the fans are extremely sad now and we who are liable for Thursday’s operation want to do all we can to attempt to get a win and devote it to him»
The hosts will be without Ryan Kent, who tweaked a hamstring through the victory over Livingston.
Gerrard has hinted he might be ready to throw Jamie Murphy back into the first-team fold after missing having a cruciate knee injury.
Jordan Jones stays absent and suffered an accident throughout the Old Firm match this month.
Feyenoord will likely be without Sven van Beek, although Jens Toornstra, Nicolai Jorgensen, Jan-Arie van der Heijden and Steven Berghuis are all doubtful.
The only past meetings between Feyenoord and also Rangers were at the 2001-02 UEFA Cup – that the side won 4-3 on aggregate en route to winning the trophy.
Rangers have already played eight games in European competition this year, winning half their Europa League qualifying matches (D2) while maintaining six blank sheets.
However they gained their last match in the 2017-18 Champions League against Napoli, feyenoord have dropped seven of their past eight matches in important competition.
Alfredo Morelos scored eight goals in Rangers’ eight Europa League qualifying matches this year. The Colombian was the sole Rangers player to score over once in the Europa League last season (two ).
Rangers striker Jermain Defoe has scored nine goals together with all those coming for Spurs between 2012 and 2013.
This will be a game. Feyenoord have a standing. Feyenoord have the fire but aren’t bringing .
These nights, rangers love which is Steven Gerrard is there. They have not clicked into gear just yet though. Jaap Stam’s negative will sit for 20-25 minutes and frustration could be caused by this around Ibrox – this is if they can pounce.
Alfredo Morelos is your threat along with Feyenoord will be winding him up to see whether they could get him. He looks a great deal calmer than what he has been in the past! It’s not a simple night. It’ll be quite physical and stressed. If Rangers have the understanding to make it through those games however I really don’t know.
