Dallas Mavericks: 20-1

Here is a scary idea, through Tim MacMahon of ESPNDallas.com:»You do not get any better than Rick Carlisle crime, however, Carlisle’s offense got a lot better this offseason.»
Drink this one in.
Last season, Carlisle’s Mavs tied for second in the league having an offensive rating of 109, decimal points behind the NBA-best Los Angeles Clippers, according to NBA.com. While the loss of facilitator Jose Calderon and genius sniper will sting, Dallas brought to soften the blow. And a few possessions can be absorbed by Monta Ellis as well, which won’t be a bad thing for the Mavs’ attack.
The significant increase comes in Chandler Parsons, who’ll play small forward to consume nearly all of Vince Carter and the wing minutes Shawn Marion shared. Tyson Chandler mans the middle of what should be a better defense.
What Dallas has is delicate. It’s dependent upon the health and continuing potency of Dirk Nowitzki, around whom an offense that is elite can still be built. Nowitzki is, himself, although that is a remarkable thing to say about a player.
Provided that he’s ready to stand erect, he’ll be a defense-shredder in the high post. And the rest of the Mavs will play him off as the strings are pulled by Carlisle from the bench.
Doubt this set of vets at your own risk.
