NBA ban ‘ninja-style’ headwear for the 2019-20 season

NBA players will be banned from wearing»ninja-style» headwear during the 2019-20 season amid safety concerns.
The headbands have caused alarm among some NBA teams because of the loose ties to the trunk of the design.
«Teams have raised concerns regarding security and consistency of size, length, and how they’re tied, which takes a comprehensive review before thought of any rule change,» said NBA spokesman Mike Bass.
The headwear has been sported by high profile players such as Jimmy Butler of Karl-Anthony Towns and the Miami Heat of the Minnesota Timberwolves .
«When a few players started wearing them last year, we did not wish to cause a disruption by intervening midseason, however we notified our teams in May that they wouldn’t be a part of the year’s uniforms,» said Bass.
«The ninja-style headwear is not a part of the NBA uniform and has not been during the league consent process.»
Detroit Pistons celebrity Blake Griffin advised the NBA’s decision on Twitter.
«I really like that somebody in the NBA needed to type the phrases’ninja-style hardware’ (sic) and’consistency of size and length’ as their job now,» Griffin posted.
Participants were made aware of the NBA’s decision but details of the size and length of this headband is going to be discussed by the NBA Competition Committee prior to a formal rule change is made.
